BRUSSELS ANTI-DEMOLITION CAMPAIGN

2013

1/21 oval paintings, 11x14cm and photographs 50x60cm, Rue Joseph Claes, 26, 1000 Brussels, 2013

I started this project when cycling on a street near the Brussels South train station, where most houses were abandoned and fated to an imminent demolition. During one year, I created a series of small oval oil paintings on buildings fated to be destroyed. I thought that if I became a well-known painter before their destruction, maybe they would not be torn down in order to keep the paintings intact.

____

Project is part of the platform ARCHIVE OF DESTRUCTION created by Jes Fernie in collaboration with Flat Time House in London
